The schedule has just four games remaining in the FSFL season and the Spartans have evened their record and put themselves in position to make yet another postseason berth.  With a 3-3 record the Spartans would find themselves in the playoffs and with the remaining four games giving them ample opportunity to host at least a first round playoff game the Spartans re looking to make their move now.  While a few teams seem to be losing steam, the Spartans are improving after their dismal start and even when you disregard the wins and losses and the weeks that they came about, the overall performance of the team has improved steadily every single week.  “7 wins and we are in, that’s how we look at it” says Coach Patterson, “we are taking it one game at a time but we are keeping in mind that in the long run we have total control on how our season ends with four games to go”

Here is a run down of the games in the FSFL this week.

The Punishers look to push to keep pace with the other unbeaten team (Bandits) and battle for home field advantage throughout the playoffs.  The Demon Knights need to win to avoid slipping in the standins and out of the playoff picture.

Panthers either had a hiccup last week or there is something wrong on Granny Road as the 35-0 loss to the Falcons gave them a dose of the reality of the FSFL competition.

Another win by the blue clinches them a playoff spot while the Seminoles are in the midst of climbing out of their hole that started 0-2.  Noles on the road could be a challenge and the Noles are running out of opportunities with a tough schedule ahead.
LI HURRICANES   (A)   2-3                    2 1/2                                                     LI TRIBE   (H)   2-3
Canes and Tribe are two teams heading in opposite directions.  A Canes win would spell a huge momentum shift for the first year program, whie the Tribe would be snowballing with another loss.  This could have a playoff game feel.
NJ IRISH   (A)   3-2                                   9                                                        BK WOLFPACK  (H)  1-4
Irish look to stop the bleeding from losing two straight.  The Wolfpack are young this coulld either be a huge boost or a seal their fate.
NE KNIGHTS   (H)    0-3                          3                                                       BK BULLDAWGS   (A)   2-3 

New England hopes to have more luck with the Bulldawgs than they have with the schedule.  After an inpromptu bye week the Knights look to break into the win column against the dawgs.

Madden Tourney has begun.  Round one must be played by 7pm on Tuesday.  Please report scores to NewYorkSpartans@yahoo.com.  Remember the games MUST be 5 min quarters with settings on ALL-Madden.  If game has not been played by Tuesday both players will be removed from the bracket.  Good Luck To All.

Think you have skills in Madden?  How do they stack up with the Spartans?  This week we will be profiling the Spartan players who are part of “Madden Nation”  An American and worldwide addiction to the football video game.  We will be having a tournament to see who is the best Madden player on the Spartans.  Bracket and bios on the players will be coming up soon.

Number 33 scores 4 touchdowns in a single game….  We know that we have heard this before.  TV icon Al Bundy wore number 33 for the fictional Polk High School football team who in the popular sitcom “Married With Children” took every chance he could get to let everyone know of the day that he scored four touchdowns in one game.  Ruben Kearse wears number 33 and in yesterdays game against the Connecticut Ravens scored 4 touchdowns. 

The day that Kearse had does put him in the record books.  The first is the team record as no Spartan has every scored 4 touchdowns in a game.  He also established a league record with those scores which puts him on top the list and on the season puts him in the running for the scoring title.  Congrats to Ruben Kearse and we salute him with the following tribute video.
